About Us

Redeemer Church is a gospel-centered church that exists to make disciples and plant churches. Everything we do—from Sunday worship to neighborhood mission, from pastoral care to theological training—is aimed at seeing people transformed by the gospel and sent out to make more disciples.

Job Summary

The Pastor/Director of Formation provides leadership for the spiritual formation of Redeemer Church by overseeing two primary ministries:

  • Soul Care – Building a biblically based counseling ministry where people experience biblical care, healing, restoration, and discipleship through intensive remedial discipleship.
  • Redeemer Institute – Creating and leading a robust equipping pathway through theological education, practical training, and ministry development that prepares every believer for ministry and multiplication.

This position will champion lifelong spiritual growth by ensuring that every person at Redeemer has clear opportunities to be cared for, equipped, challenged, and sent.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Soul Care

Provide pastoral leadership that helps people experience the hope, healing, and transformation of the gospel.

Responsibilities include

  • Build and oversee Redeemer's Soul Care Ministry.
  • Develop a clear pathway for biblical counseling and pastoral care.
  • Provide pastoral counseling for members experiencing spiritual, relational, emotional, and life challenges.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer care ministers and lay counselors.
  • Equip elders, group leaders, and ministry leaders to provide wise first-response care.
  • Develop systems for care requests, follow-up, crisis response, and referrals.
  • Build relationships with trusted Christian counselors and community partners when specialized care is needed.
  • Help cultivate a church culture where confession, repentance, restoration, and grace are normal.
  • Provide pastoral support during grief, crisis, illness, and major life transitions.
  • Ensure care ministries remain biblically grounded while demonstrating compassion and wisdom.

Long-Term Vision

Rather than outsourcing all counseling, the Pastor of Formation will develop a scalable ministry where trained leaders care well for the church while having pastoral oversight and theological integrity.

2. Lead Redeemer Institute

Create an intentional culture of lifelong theological education and practical discipleship. The Redeemer Institute exists to equip every believer—from the newest Christian to future pastors and church planters—to know God more deeply and serve Him more faithfully.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cast vision for Redeemer Institute as the primary equipping ministry of the church.
  • Develop annual course offerings.
  • Recruit and coach teachers from within the church.
  • Design clear learning pathways for new believers, members, leaders, and future church planters.
  • Create a balanced curriculum that includes both practical ministry and rigorous theological education.
  • Oversee course registration, scheduling, curriculum development, and quality control.
  • Develop certificates or ministry tracks as the Institute grows.
  • Integrate Institute classes into Redeemer's overall discipleship strategy.
