Elder Installation: On Sunday, our members unanimously affirmed Lemanuel Williams, Tim Sia, and Chris Schank to join our elder team. On Sunday, February 26th, we will formally install them during one of our Sunday morning services.

Name Changing: We will soon change the name of our groups ministry from Life Groups to Community Groups. Same ministry, different name. The name “Life Group” has served us well for nearly a decade, but as we move into our second decade of ministry we want to more clearly connect groups to our core value of community. In the coming weeks you will see a new display pop-up in our lobby to help people get plugged into groups more quickly and this new display will reflect this change. Once that is in place, we will update our website and print materials to reflect the change in name. Again, the only thing changing is the name.

Church Plant Support: Over the last few weeks we sent roughly $2000.00 worth of equipment to two church plants, Resurrection Church (Lincoln, MI) and Gateway Church (Waynesville, NC). Also, in the next week we are sending out $12,000 worth of support with $6,000 going to Plaza Baptist Church (a replant in Charlotte, NC) and $6,000 to Citizens Church (a plant in Kernersville, NC).
 
Planter Care: In April, we will once again be hosting the cohort  of pastors and planters that Pastor Dayton leads for Acts 29. For three days we will do some deep soul work, strategizing, and checking in on the emotional and spiritual health of these pastors.
 
Pastor Wives: In March, Rebekah Hartman will be co-leading a cohort of wives whose husbands serve as lead pastors in Acts2 9. Be praying now that this time would be beneficial and these women would experience the love and care of Christ. Thank you for being a church that is supportive of our church caring for other churches.
 
Global Missions: During the Christmas season you gave just over $10,000 to global missions. Half of this ($5,000) will go to the International Mission Board. The other half will go to PGT ministries in India. We will be adding another $6,000 to this to provide a total of $11,000 to PGT in order to cover the annual costs of sending a “mobile team” to unreached people groups.

Christmas Day: We will not gather on Christmas morning. Instead, we will consider our Christmas Eve services as our weekend gatherings. This decision is primarily driven by logistics. In short, for us to do Christmas Eve and Christmas morning services would require over 100 active volunteers serving less than 24 hours apart. Due to our space constraints, we would need to have multiple services on Christmas morning (two at minimum). Which requires numerous teams to be staffed at near normal levels (band, media, kids, security, connect, parking). Even if our attendance on that morning dropped by 1/3 (this past weekend over 600 people gathered on Sunday morning), we would still need two services on that Sunday. Hopefully, by the next time Christmas falls on a Sunday morning, we will have enough space that we could gather in one service with a minimal volunteer team to open the facility. Still, for this year on Christmas morning we will be re-streaming one of the Christmas Eve services and we are working on a family devotional video, for those with children, that you can use as part of worship in your home.

SERVE ROCKY MOUNT: We are working on two opportunities for us to love our city during the month of December. First, we will be sharing a workday for people to serve with Building Shalom as they get another home prepared for a family. Second, while we are still finalizing details, we will partner with Ripe Revival to provide food for those in need in our community. Our aim is to provide a Christmas dinner for those who are experience a difficult season due to the economy. Stay tuned for details.

BIG NEWS - MAKE ROOM: Last Sunday, I shared some big news. First, Jesus continues to entrust us with more and more of that which he calls most precious to him: human souls. That should humble us and encourage us. In light of this, we need to make room for others as Jesus makes room for us. During this fall season, starting on Oct. the 30th, we are going to add a third Sunday morning service. All three services 8:00|9:30|11:00 will be exactly the same. The only difference between the three will be that the 8:00 service will always have donuts.

I also asked you on Sunday morning to be missional with when you worship. We are asking 80 of you to commit to the 8:00 service and 150 of you to commit to the 11:00 service. This does not mean that you can’t go to a different service as needed. It just means that for the fall season you intend to be (more often than not) at the service you’ve committed to for worship.
 
We anticipate that the 9:30 service will likely be the most full service. So, having close to 250 people commit to a different service time will help us navigate some of our current pressure points.

Kids Checkout: We are in the process of updating our checkout policies for Redeemer Kids. Moving forward, we will require parents to show their checkout label in order to pickup their child from a classroom. This is necessary because of the sheer number of kids in Redeemer Kids. For example, last Sunday, we had over 160 kids and volunteers in the hallway across two services. We want to make sure children are safely returned to their parents. Also, only adults can pickup a child from their classroom (older siblings who are minors cannot pickup a child from a classroom). We love our kids and their families and we want to ensure we have policies that provide safety for kids and peace of mind for parents.
 
Parking: Thank you for helping maximize our parking lot. We will be putting into place new signage to ensure that parking is instructions are clear. One of these signs, positioned at the entrance will encourage people who are new or who need help parking near the entrance (for health reasons, etc) to turn on their hazard lights as they enter so that our parking team will know to ask them if they are new or just need to be parked near the entrance. Thank you for giving us grace as we navigate changes to our parking.

Service Times: As we continue to grow, we have been working behind the scenes to ensure we are ready if/when we need to add a third service. As we are preparing for this possibility, we have also been working to maximize our facility for two services (changes to our seating, increased overflow parking, and reworking the flow of our lobby). Thank you to everyone who has been flexible and willing to help us quickly adjust where needed and to be prepared for if/when we would add a third service.

Giving: Thank you for being such a generous people. As we shared on Sunday, over the last nine years you have given over 1.4 million dollars to missional efforts. That is incredible.
